5 Wedding trends to look out for in 2021

Due to postponed dates from 2020, we expect 2021 to be a yea jam-packed with wedding wonderfulness! We cannot wait to see our couples come and put their personal stamp our venue. Here are some of our favourite trends we expect to see this year.

Cosy, Intimate Ceremonies

Whilst this wasn’t a choice for those who wed last year, 2020 made us reflect on what and who is truly important to us. More and more couples are realising they want to celebrate their special day just with close family and friends.

This also allows couples to refocus their budget towards what’s important to them, allowing them to create an intimate and special experience with excellent food and loving company - that’s all we really want is it not?

DIY Decor

DIY is not an entirely new concept to 2021, however with lockdowns and furlough throughout last year, more and more of us have spent time learning new skills. Not to mention scrolling TikTok or Pinterest for hours to spark inspiration.

When looking at centrepieces, invitations, and table plans, you can expect to see more DIY.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a necessary trend that has seen an increase across multiple industries. A typical wedding can have a large carbon footprint, more couples are working to avoid this.

Expect to see more locally sourced menus and alcohol at weddings this year. Wedding menus will also likely become more seasonal seeing lighter options in summer and warm, hearty options in winter.

Finding a beautiful venue that requires minimal decoration for a dreamy backdrop to your day is a great sustainable option. Here at Pryors, our gardens offer beautiful summer surroundings and indoors is a truly intimate and romantic reception suite. Just take a look at our gallery.

Looking at other wedding elements - finding environmentally friendly confetti such as dried flower petals, using a small, ethical dressmaker and using a local venue are further steps towards a sustainable wedding day.

All the colours

Couples are moving away from the traditional white and ivory shades towards warm tones, pastels and purples. We love this trend as it truly lets couples express themselves on their special day, portraying their personality and individuality rather than sticking to rigid traditions.

We expect to see more coloured groom and groomsmen suits, bridesmaid dresses, colourful bouquets and bright centrepieces. Take a look at this beautiful KC Moore Foto shoot from last year full of purple hues and mystic mauves.

Glitz & Glam

Spending essentially an entire year in pyjamas and loungewear indoors means we are all looking for an excuse to dress up - and what better excuse than your wedding!

We expect to see full Hollywood glam with more embellishment when it comes to bridal hair and make-up. Adding sparkle with beautiful hair clips, statement jewellery and dramatic make-up - perfect for a photo opportunity in our entrance hall!
